WAWA Reference Map

Application purpose: The WAWA Reference Map is intended for planning purposes only. The information is subject to change and the mapping of the wetlands, watercourses, and water bodies is only approximate.

Application description: The WAWA Reference Map is intended for planning purposes only. There are three categories of water features:

  • Provincially Significant Wetlands (PSW): Wetlands having provincial, national or international importance (i.e. species at risk, coastal wetlands, unique forested wetlands, some floodplain wetlands).
  • Wetlands: Various wetland types - Freshwater marsh, aquatic bed, bog, fen, forested and shrub.
  • Watercourses and water bodies (e.g. rivers, lakes, and streams)

Application functionality:

  • Display a disclaimer
  • Search for a particular property, address, or location
  • Display wetland data and control transparency of wetland polygons

Data requirements:

  • Protected wetland polygons
  • Water (watercourses & water bodies)
  • Property maps
  • Civic Addresses
  • GeoNB base maps

Data update frequency: Wetlands, watercourses, and water bodies should be updated on a yearly cycle.
