Wetlands
The Digital Wetland information contains the Provincially Significant Wetlands Layer (including 30 metre buffer) and the Regulated Wetlands Map (including 30 metre buffer).
Provincially Significant Wetlands (PSW) The Provincially Significant Wetlands are highlighted in yellow and include all coastal marshes, the wetlands associated with the Lower Saint John River flood plains, and other important wetlands in the inland area of the province. Although existing activities are allowed to be continued, only limited new development will be permitted in or within 30 m of these areas. A Permit will be required for these activities. For activities that would affect Provincially Significant Wetlands that are greater than two hectares in size an Environmental Impact Assessment may be required. Any activity, involving disturbance of the soil and/or ground or cutting of trees within these areas requires a Permit. Please contact the New Brunswick Department of Environment for more information.
Regulated Wetlands Map (RWM) The Regulated Wetlands Map shows wetland areas that are regulated under the Watercourse and Wetland Alteration Program. Any activity, involving disturbance of the soil and/or ground or cutting of trees, in or within 30 meters of the wetland boundary shown requires a permit. Please contact the New Brunswick Department of Environment.
